Meet Angelo Kataxakis, LAPC
In-Person & Telehealth in PA
I believe therapy should be a place where you can bring all of who you are into the room without feeling like you need to explain, minimize, or edit yourself. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationships, identity, self-esteem, or simply trying to understand yourself a little better, I want us to get curious about your experiences together. The parts of you that developed to cope, protect yourself, or find belonging didn't appear out of nowhere, and understanding the relationships, identities, culture, and environments that shaped you can be an important part of creating change.
As a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC), I work with adults through a collaborative, affirming, and culturally responsive lens, with a particular passion for supporting young adults and the LGBTQIA+ community. I earned my Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Temple University and draw from relational, emotion-focused, and strengths-based approaches to help therapy feel personal rather than clinical. I value authenticity, trust, and humor in the therapy room, and believe our work should feel like something we're doing together, not something being done to you.
Clients I work Best with:
I work best with adults, especially young adults in their 20s and 30s, who are navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, relationships, body image, life transitions, or questions around belonging and becoming more comfortable with who they are. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ clients and people who may have spent a lot of time second-guessing themselves, adapting to others, or feeling like certain parts of who they are haven't always had space to exist.
Our work isn't about changing who you are to fit someone else's version of who you should be. Together, we'll get curious about the experiences, relationships, identities, and environments that have shaped you, while figuring out what actually feels authentic to you now. We'll build on your strengths, challenge patterns that no longer serve you, and work toward greater confidence, connection, and trust in yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) with a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Drexel University. My clinical experience includes providing individual therapy in outpatient settings and working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity exploration, relationships, body image, life transitions, and other experiences that can impact how we see ourselves and connect with others.
I am especially passionate about providing culturally responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming care that considers the whole person, including the identities, relationships, communities, and systems that shape our experiences. I continue to expand my clinical training in areas such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and parts work, with a focus on bringing thoughtful, affirming, and evidence-based care into the therapy room.

My approach to therapy is person centered, relational, culturally responsive, and affirming, recognizing that your experiences don't exist separately from your identity, relationships, culture, or the world around you. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and strengths-based approaches, while incorporating elements of CBT and parts work when helpful.
Rather than following one set formula, we'll figure out together what feels meaningful and useful for you. That might look like exploring patterns in relationships, learning ways to navigate difficult emotions, challenging stories you've internalized about yourself, strengthening boundaries, or making space for different parts of yourself to be understood rather than judged.
-
I believe the relationship we build matters just as much as the work we do together. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest, ask questions, disagree with me, laugh when it feels right, and talk about the things that might be harder to say anywhere else. You know your life better than anyone, so I see my role as someone who gets curious alongside you, offers another perspective, and supports you as you figure out what feels right for you.
You can also expect me to be in your corner. Whether we're working through anxiety, relationships, identity, self-esteem, or the complicated process of figuring yourself out, I'll meet you with authenticity, encouragement, and without judgment. We'll celebrate the wins, make room for the difficult days, and remember that progress doesn't have to be perfectly linear to still be progress.
